Zenit LDP - 78a 90mm
These 78a, 90mm wheels with a 45mm contact patch are LDP behemoths. They maximize the distance between each push and maintain remarkable speed while making it over anything from cracks in the street to pebbles on the sidewalk. With a diameter that makes them roll for what seems like forever, the LDPs also make cruising and carving an endlessly enjoyable experience.
Contact Patch: 45mm
Bearing Seat: Center set
Formula: High rebound
Core: Ultra resistant
Weight: 1080g for the set
Overview: These wheels roll forever with amazing speed.
Colour: The black colour makes my board looks so stealthy.
Hardness: It actually feels harder than 78A but I like that since there's less energy loss. I ride in areas with glass frequently and I've noticed these wheels have less glass stuck in them compared to the purple caguamas.
Width: The width is perfect, since the wheels are narrower they are less likely to ride over areas with glass, and after switching to these it's almost impossible to kick the back wheels when pushing.
Build quality: Despite some imperfections on the rims of the wheels where the excess urethane can be burnt off or cut, the wheels are true, smooth, and functions perfectly.
Still winter here but I decided to swap these in from my go-to Speedvents (mango and pink), They are only slightly heavier by about 30grams a wheel which is nice and much more center set which means the wheel will be closer to your deck. If you have adjustable axles you can always space them out a bit. So far I’m digging them. Unlike some other large wheels I have tried lately (McFlys) these seem to roll pretty quick they don’t feel much harsher than pink SV’s and their added diameter is noticeable in getting over obstacles. Still too early to make direct comparisons yet but I look forward to continued testing.
Moved from my 85mm speedvents to these guys, and I will say that I am definitely a fan. Both of them keep the roll speed up, and while I'm definitely not sure if i prefer the 'vents to these guys, the 90mm LDPS are at minimum at sidegrade to speedvents, and most certainly an upgrade in terms of availability and prices. Snag them for anything that can run them is what I would say!
Installed these 90mm 45cp wheels on double drop-through for long distance pushing. Fell in love in the 1st km - perfect clearance on a 165mm RKP, rolls smooth, hardly feel small bumps and cracks, and can maintain the roll on a pump (depends on how you pump). Keen to try these wheels on other distance pushers in the quiver!
